Artist: MultiplexEP: With Hands And Feet Label: Multidisc Style: IDM/Electronic/Experimental Length: 41 min. Year: 2004 Are you familiar with English Toytronic label? If yes then you must be at least slightly familiar with Multiplex. No? Not to worry because you will find at least one artist that you know in this EP. With Hands and Feets EP is the compilation of title track's remixes. The versions of such artists as Digitonal (Toytronic), Shitmat (Planet-Mu), Proem (n5MD, Merck), Safety Scissors (Plug Research, Force Tracks), Fizzarium (CCO), Novel 23 (Pitchcadet, Art-tek), Dictaphone (CCO) are presented to the musical gourmands. A really impressive pleaid of remixers. It is really obvious that the stylistics of this EP is pretty hysteric fit at the drums (Shitmat). But it is really nice to hear how each artists manages to suppress its own style - you simply don't even have to look at the CD package - everything could be heard clearly. Still it is a pity that when trying to suppress their own style they digress from the source track (although a unique Pub - Summer has the same feature - you hardily can hear the details of original track in remixes). Hands And Feets track is a pure infant of Multiplex seasoned with exotic oriental melodies (although this theme was not explicated by remixers). The original version of the track is followed by colleagues of the label - Digitonal. If there is anyone around that can handle strings as good as Murcof does - it has to be Digitanol. It is a marvelous feeling to listen how sensitive violins are braid with the samples of Multiplex. Musical magic and gorgeous interpretation of the track. It is pretty odd to see Shitmat on the play list like this (with two remixes even). As I am not indifferent to the musical sense of humour of this hooligan from Planet-Mu I was anxiously willing to hear the stuff he has made this time. It is a pity to say, but nothing interesting this time. Proem - the guy I really admire and love at present - is hardily demonstrating his style and talent. Brilliant! One of the most beautiful remixes in this EP. A never heard before Decadnids producer has created a remix studded with beautiful melodies. But the rhythm...it is boring and rough. This kind of beauty needs something that is more original. Safety Scissors is demonstrating the art of sound collage that somehow reminds me of Akufen a bit. Lots of short, playful sounds that sound really vivaciously and playfully. Where did Fazzarum come from? Last time I have heard of them was back in 2000 when they released Monochrom Plural (Domino) album. After that they disappeared (they web site tell that they are busy with making and selling musical samples). It is really nice to see these Russian guys coming back. Their remixes is a typical example of Russian electronica. Novel 23 has disappointed me because they haven't revealed their true potential. Although the oriental theme of the track is used pretty interesting in his remix. As all present artists of CCO are supposed Dictaphone plays instrumental electronica. Sad guitars, nicely minimal beat line and electronic sounds are put really nicely together. A perfect track for the ending... Rating: 9 [ Walkman ] |
