FLOW.ERS (SUTEMOS008)
Download Flow.ers ZIP archive
What is the biggest expression of love to music like? Actually this question is a retorical one ant cannot be answered. But I try to reveal it. What is love, after all? Love means attention. This time I give away myself to music. The word _MINE_ is far more imporant here than in any other sentence because it is insanely close and deep. It is really hard to tell how big is the pleasure to have your own personal compilation. And the pleasure is even bigger because it is just as I wanted it to be. Flow.ers is the music that I grew up with and with it I still continue growing. It is the music of my love...

Because of the popularity of minimal sound at first we thought that is not possible to achieve. So we would really
like to thank all the people who believed in us and helped us in our work.We don't really like to restrict artists with some particular idea so the whole concept of Flow.ers was to put the most beautiful minimal/ambient/dubby down tempo music into one piece that would flow from the start to the very end. The title of the compilation - Flow.ers - comes from the word "Flow" and means "those who make the flow". But on the other hand, the same word can mean beautiful plants - flowers - and reflect the beauty of the sound. Put these two meaning into one place and you'll have a general idea on Flow.ers.
As all our releases have their own virtual galleries this one will not be an exception. This time they will be made by our own genius designer TikrasTigras. This collection of artworks will reflect the theme of flow, minimalism, beauty, calmness, soft senses, forms, figures, colours. It is all about your imagination what will you find in this endless design loop of Flow.ers artworks.

Yagya
The real name of Icelandic Yagya is Aðalsteinn Guðmundsson. It is really wonderful that in spite of his age he already have
released a number of various releases under some different names. His music appears on such labels as Thule Records, Static
Caravan, AE Recordings, Uni:Form Recording and, of course, Force Inc. He has also had some projects with Ruxpin and Thor.
The highlight of Aðalsteinn's musical carrier was a Rhythm Of Snow album on Force in. This was something really
fresh, lovely and gorgeous. Every lover of ambient/minimal sound was totally crazy about these sounds. In 2005 he will
return with his new album Will I Dream During The Process. It is surely one of the most awaited albums of minimal music.
For now we suggest you to get back to the dreams of Rhythms of Snow.

Ozy
One more Icelandic artists at Flow.ers that is famous for his gorgeous and spacey sounds. Örnólfur Thorlacius first made his
mark on the music scene by releasing the first Icelandic drum and bass record in 1997, under the name Hugh Jazz. But as he
turned to be more and more interested in minimal techno sounds the music of Ozzy was born. It was released among the first
ventures of legendary Icelandic minimal dub label Thule Records, which often is referred to as Basic Channel of the north.
In 2000 OZZY became OZY as he began shaping his musical style. It is not just only about the sound - it has got a deep
atmosphere inside, certain feeling of the artist and various emotional scapes. In 2002 legendary German label Force Inc.
released Ozy's debut album "Tokei" which is surely on of the best releases of label/artist. It is because of this album that we have Örnólfur on Flow.ers.

Krill.Minima.
German Martin Juhls (aka Marsen Jules aka Krill.Minima) has made his debut at Sutemos with Intelligent Toys 2 - his track was acclaimed as one of the best in this compilation. This versatile artist is also going to make his debut on City Centre Offices at the end of Febraury. Martin is using many different names and is in the world of electronic music for number of years already. But untill now most of his music was released only on virtual labels. Under the name of Marsen Jules he creates cozy instrumental music, ambient reefs, under the name of krill.minima – chrispy organic ambient tunes, under the name of Falter – clickish-dub-house. This time Martin Juhls reveals his Krill.Minima side of his personaloty. Deep and heart braking.
Pfloez a dark tunnel with the light in the end - a perfect theme for the grand opening of Flow.ers.

Exos
Arnvidur Snorrason is the third Icelandic Flower in this compilation. He is surely no less known in the world of minimal
music and has got his own approach this kind of sound. If to mention his musical carrier he already has released 3
albums and 14 maxi singles. His music can be found on such labels like Force Inc, Thule music and Mosaic records. it also
can be mentioned that Exos sound was remixed by people like Misstress Barbara, Thor 54 and Dj Rush. Pretty impressive, isn't it? Arnvidur is really serious about his musical carrier - his own label will be launched in the nearest future.
A flowing trip into the darkest deepness together with Exos is unforgettable...

Rod Modell
Rod Modell has been active in underground electronic music since 1984. Starting in the
industrial scene back then, and progressing into dance sounds. Rod has over 30 releases to date,
on various labels such as Silent Records (Kim Cascone's legendary ambient label), Soleilmoon,
Amplexus, Hypnos (www.hypnos.com), Linear Logic (a.k.a. LL Recordings - owned by PACOU in
Germany), Echocord (distributed via Kompakt), and many others. Rod has also produced music for US television (The Discovery Channel), and has done many "audio installations" in art museum settings (some of these recordings will be issued in 2005 on Italy's Silentes Recordings - www.silentes.com).
Deepchord is Rod Modell's minimal techno label and was started (w/ Mike Schommer) in 1997. Deepchord is often called the second wave of the "Basic Channel sound". Compared often to the works of Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, Rod's sound offers a unique blend of dubby beats, crisp static, synthetic analog grooves, and of course... lots of deep chords! The Deepchord approach to this kind of music is calm and hypnotizing, painting bright and deep textures on the canvas of silence. Releases for 2005 will feature more amtospheric works, similar to the works released pre-deepchord. There are also a few 12" singles slated for 2005.
This piece for Sutemos features late-night Detroit atmosphere. A TR-909, DX100, $30 Yamaha sequencer (from 1984), and a single cheap effect unit at 2:15 AM somewhere in Detroit. No computers are utilized in Modell's recordings.
If this is not a flow then we don't know what it is.

Xoki
Introduced to music in a very early age by his father a disc jockey from the 70's, his collection of early jazz funk, disco,
Jamaican dub and German electronics is the root to Xoki's musical understanding. His exploration of sound and music began
in his early teens while fooling around with broken cassette decks, cutting up and looping tapes of commercial radio music. He
started exploring digital audio in 1994 on a 486 pc and a digital synth, working on this platform for far too long, composing
ambient, d'n'b and minimal electronics. After a few more or less inactive years, inspired by what was happening in Germany
he started producing minimal dub and deep techno/house music where carefully crafted sounds where fused with dancefloor
functionality. Recently Xoki released his stuff on Demark's Kyoto net label. Such sound should definitely escape the net
label scene. It is worth a lot more with no doubt.

Octex
Octex aka Jernej Marusic, 26 year old from Slovenia, has been experimenting with music equipment since late 90s. It was all
a consequence of falling in love with the sound of old analog synthesizers. In all this years of doing different styles of
electronic music he found himself in doing Organic Crackle and Tone Experiments (Octex), fusing his diverse influences with
the unique flavor of Ljubljana. This resulted in releases on numerous compilations. One of his tracks from Tehnika 1 label
already got noticed by the legendary radio DJ John Peel (RIP) and got played on his radio show on BBC Radio 1. In 2002 he
has released his debut album Idei Lahesna on Tehnika records, which received high praises from both critics and the public,
and tracks from it got licensed to numerous compilations and mix CDs. Jernej's self-made video for track "Emergon" got
played on such TV stations as VIVA, Onyx TV, which is quite surprising for this style of music. He also made a remix for
Slovenian music legends Laibach, and has just finished a remix for San Francisco band Tussle. In 2003 Octex has received
Slovenian music award Bumerang for best new comer of the year, and for the second year in the row, he was selected as one of the 10 finalist for Radio France International Electronic Music Award.
Typical sound of Octex floods Flow.ers. It's better than ever before.

Hieronymus
A second genius from Denmark's Kyoto net label. The real master of deep/dubby sounds that can carry you far away. What
really inspired him to start making music was listening to the dubversions used by DJs like Yellowman, Eek-a-mouse, U-roy,
and many more. When other people would focus on the lyrics his ears would be tuned in on the rhythm and the mix. Hieronymus was captured by the mindblowing delaypacked intros, false starts, scratchy surfaces, rhythmic reverbs and delays, going in
and out of mystic rooms, the heavy talking bass, and of course, not to be forgotten, the big amps, and the focus on the
technical aspects concerning the equipment and the mixing. Over the last years he has been very influenced by Basic channel
and a lot of other people on the electronic scene. This has also affected my sound a lot. He aims to make music that has an
organic flow-and where the sound and texture is equally as important as the construction. On the other side of the
mirror Hieronymus is a multimediadesigner, living in Copenhagen and who has a company with some friends that develops
edutainment for kids.
Let's go to deep underworld of warm flowing textures.

Mookid
We always are happy to have a Lithuanian artist on our releases (because of high quality stardarts of Sutemos it is really hard for them to enter). Born in 1983 in Vilnius,Lithuania, Mookid was interested in electronic music since the age of 16. Inspired by a wide range of music - from psychedelic trance to techno and minimal house, he tries to produce tracks that would present his own view of the contemporary electronic music. Using mainly software, he creates deep, dark, warm and minimal sounds both for the dance floor and for home-listening. His debut track was released on Lithuanian label "5dot recordings" compilation (as Raimis ex). He is now one of the Flow.ers.
